Thirsty Thursday at the Ballpark

This week the mister and I went to a baseball game. Here in Eugene we have a single A farm team for the San Diego Padres. We used to go a lot when they were at their old stadium, but even though their new stadium is within walking distance we never went before last week.

There was something magical about watching a game at Civic Stadium. It was an old ball park with a wooden grandstand that always felt like it was going to fall down at any moment. You knew the game would be horrible but it was okay because you got to look out over the beautiful south hills of Eugene and watch the sunset. Plus, beer was cheep and they brought it to you.
Last game at Civic Stadium, September 2009

Now they play at the ballpark that was made for the new U of O baseball team. One of the perks of having an alum like Phil Knight (who is the CEO and founder of Nike) is that we have some pretty amazing sports facilities. In the past two years he has donated a new basketball arena, Matthew Knight Arena, and PK Park, the new baseball stadium. It's a beautiful stadium, everything is brand new and shiny, it's just not the same. And they don't bring you beer. Seriously? I mean, this is baseball! Seriously. Get it together people.

Walking up to the stadium, which is in the parking lot of Autzen, the football stadium. We like to keep it simple.

Waiting in the beer line. Obviously the mister is super happy about it.

Mister and his friend James, this was right before the third base coach got thrown out.

Nachos on a hot dog? Okay. Why not?

At least there are still the sunsets.

Giants win the series! Giants win the series!

The Giants won! The Giants won the World Series!

I can't believe it! After watching so many (over 140 out of 162) games this season they actually won the Championship! If someone would have told me that this would be happening back in June, or July or even in September I would have told them they were crazy!

Let's talk about the crazy emotions that have run through me this evening...
Innings 1-4: Typical Giants baseball, but these guys want it. And Timmy was on FIRE. He understood that this was THE game.

5th Inning: After eating a ton of leftover Halloween candy in the first four innings I crashed. I napped. It happens.

6th and 7th Innings: Did the dishes. And almost stabbed myself with a butcher knife when Renteria hit that three run homer.

8th Inning: Commentated from the couch while the mister made dinner. Also ran interference with the mass amounts of texts he was getting.

9th Inning: Tried to eat dinner but was to nervous. Watched my boyfriend Brian Wilson load the count with 2 outs and strike out Cruz to win the game!

Then the jumping up and down started! The mister and I had to choke back tears watching our team celebrate on the field. After so much torture, so much disappointment during the season we WON. We FUCKIN' WON! sorry about the language.

For the fans who never stopped believin'

GO GIANTS!
Man I can't wait until next season.

The weekend...

I can't believe it's already Sunday, and that it's already 5:00 pm. Blerg.

We were so busy this weekend, and we even got an extra day! The mister took Friday off work and we ran so many errands it was just madness.

Friday morning he went to school with me to talk to his counselor while I was in class. Of course this took a lot longer than he thought it would and after talking him out of leaving or taking out an entire line of students we sat down and waited another hour and half for him to have a 10 minute conversation with his adviser. Welcome to Lane, mister.

After all that at the school we went to breakfast, ran into his boss at the hardware store, hit up the liquor store, grocery store and butchers before FINALLY making it back home. After that I went to watch The Real Housewives of Atlanta then proceeded to take a 3 hour nap. Sometimes that happens.

It was the mister's friend James' birthday Friday, he came over so we could feed him and watch the Yankees come back to beat the Rangers. It wasn't....great. But the burgers were good!

Saturday the mister was recovering from all the whiskey he drank with James while I got ready for the BBQ at C's house. Let's just say I got a little stressed. Just a little.

The BBQ, in honor of our friend Ira whose birthday was while C and her mister were in Hawaii, was great! C and I drank margarita's my mom's recipe. We walked to the store with them in to-go cups, got two leaner's and ringer in horseshoes, lost at beer pong and were out for the count by 10:00. That's what happens when you start drinking at three in the afternoon I guess.

Today I'm suffering from my night of fun last night. The mister has been awesome, of course. He got me a greasy bacon breakfast burrito from the Mexican place down the street, some chocolate milk and let me be. Hey I have done some laundry today, cleaned up the bathroom and taken a nap...a long one. Now it's time for game 2 of the NLCS. GO GIANTS!

Goodnight lovelies!

A little shopping...

Alright, so in my excitement tonight I headed over to MLB.com to see what awesome things I absolutely couldn't live without to help cheer on the Giants...and maybe I found some stuff.

And maybe I second day aired it so I could have it here before the game Thursday.

And maybe this is what I got...

And maybe this too...

Eeeek! I'm gonna look so cute! Don't worry I'll post a picture when I get them!

Oh, and I got this for the mister....

Because I love him.

Goodnight!

Postseason Baby!!!

The Giants are the National League West Champions!!!!!

WHOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Can I just say how over the top happy my household is right now?!?!

Friday night the Giants lost 6-4. It was ugly.
Saturday they lost 4-2. It was torture.
Today they WON 3-0! It was beautiful.

Here's my boyfriend Brian Wilson throwing the final strike:

I can't get it on the page, so you must click HERE! Do it!

Seriously.

Now the fun begins. We play Atlanta on Thursday in San Fran.

Game ON!

Octoberfest!

Happy October everyone!!!!

It's my favorite month, I love October. It hasn't gotten to cold yet, the leaves start to change, small versions of my favorite candy are available in bulk, the post season for baseball starts, Halloween happens. It's all pretty amazing.

Something happens to me the first day of October. I've spent most of my afternoon looking up pumpkin recipes. I think there's a baking extravaganza in the works for this weekend. I still have to make zucchini bread for C, so I'm thinking tomorrow during the various sporting events that will be on I'll make that and these cookies but I think I'll use chocolate chips instead of butterscotch.
Then I'll do my homework. My massive amount of homework that I need to do.

But no homework tonight, because tonight is the most important baseball game of the season for my boys in San Fransisco. Tonight if the Giants beat the Padres they'll win the pennant! And then they'll go to the playoffs and hopefully get into the World Series!!!! Tonight is also our friend Ira's birthday and his band is playing here in town. I have a feeling we'll only be going if the Giants win, so they MUST win!

GO GIANTS!!!!!

And please, please, please Captain Bochy put in my boyfriend so he can win us the game!

Hellooooo Brian Wilson.
Oh how I wish you played more than one or two innings a game...
(he's the closer, for those of you who don't know. And he's a badass!)
