A week in review...

Ummm...is it really Saturday? Where did this week go? Let's rewind:
Sunday: baking day and Scream marathon with Sparkles and Ashley
Monday: School.
Tuesday: Homework and housework then Scream 4 with Sparkles and friends. Oh and the car battery died at the movie theater. That was AMAZING!
Wednesday: School which included a field trip for  me and the mister getting a new battery in the car. Then an impromptu Survivor night with Sparkles.
Thursday: Early morning bike ride with Amy and then errands.
Friday: Volunteered at an Earth Day celebration for Oregon Toxics then drinks with Sparkles and Amy. I also bought a new bike seat and lost my iPod. Wah, wah. On the plus side I did conquer a little of the fear I have of riding my bike in traffic. So that was good. And I also found the way NOT to go when I want to bike downtown in a hurry. Another plus.

So that leaves us with today. Today I joined my friend Jessika and went to Saturday Market then out to the Oregon Country Fair site for a wildflower walk. It was really neat to be out at the fairgrounds when it was empty, it is such a beautiful area.
It was also really cool to be out there with Jessika. I've never been to Country Fair but she goes every year so she knew what empty booths are what. She told me what this one was but I can't remember now...

The main reason for being out there was to see the massive amount of wildflowers that are in bloom around the property. It seemed like wherever we looked there was a new type of flower and, we probably looked at thirty plants. I took tons of pictures but not all of them turned out like I would like.
I'm adding here the ones that are decent and because I'm a huge plant nerd now I have the Latin name and common name on them. I'm sure nobody will appreciate this more than my Botany Buddy Ashley! Anyway, I just wanted to warn you...so now you've been warned...beware of the flowers, they have names. I think my brain is about to implode from exhaustion...that's probably what I should have warned you about.

Oh wait...
There are two different types of Trillium...

One of these things is not like the other!
The Giant Trillium has its flower sitting directly on the leaves while the Western Trillium has some stem between its leaves and flower.
Show us your stems Trill!

Not to be confused with....

 That Solomon...he's a trickster!

Next week I'll be working on my time management skills and I hope to do more than one post a week.
I have some new recipes to share so stay tuned!

Belated Birthday Post

It was my birthday this weekend! Actually it was yesterday, we celebrated on Saturday with all our friends. Have I mentioned lately how much I love my friends? Cause I do, I really, really do.

The plan was to have everyone meet at our house and then we walked over to the nearest bar and kind of took it over, cause that's what we do. Apparently.

Here are a couple of pictures from the night of shenanigans:

The biggest surprise of the night was this cake! My mom coordinated with C to get me and Josh a Care Bear birthday cake. It's delicious.

The mister and the girls, Amy, C and, me.

This picture cracks me up every time! You know the Dos Equis commercials with The Most Interesting Man in the World? C is doing her impression, and obviously Steph isn't buying it.

Me and J, this girl is amazing.

 The birthday kids!

So now I'm 28. And how do I feel about that?

Pretty damn good.
This year is going to be a good one.

The weekend...

I can't believe it's already Sunday, and that it's already 5:00 pm. Blerg.

We were so busy this weekend, and we even got an extra day! The mister took Friday off work and we ran so many errands it was just madness.

Friday morning he went to school with me to talk to his counselor while I was in class. Of course this took a lot longer than he thought it would and after talking him out of leaving or taking out an entire line of students we sat down and waited another hour and half for him to have a 10 minute conversation with his adviser. Welcome to Lane, mister.

After all that at the school we went to breakfast, ran into his boss at the hardware store, hit up the liquor store, grocery store and butchers before FINALLY making it back home. After that I went to watch The Real Housewives of Atlanta then proceeded to take a 3 hour nap. Sometimes that happens.

It was the mister's friend James' birthday Friday, he came over so we could feed him and watch the Yankees come back to beat the Rangers. It wasn't....great. But the burgers were good!

Saturday the mister was recovering from all the whiskey he drank with James while I got ready for the BBQ at C's house. Let's just say I got a little stressed. Just a little.

The BBQ, in honor of our friend Ira whose birthday was while C and her mister were in Hawaii, was great! C and I drank margarita's my mom's recipe. We walked to the store with them in to-go cups, got two leaner's and ringer in horseshoes, lost at beer pong and were out for the count by 10:00. That's what happens when you start drinking at three in the afternoon I guess.

Today I'm suffering from my night of fun last night. The mister has been awesome, of course. He got me a greasy bacon breakfast burrito from the Mexican place down the street, some chocolate milk and let me be. Hey I have done some laundry today, cleaned up the bathroom and taken a nap...a long one. Now it's time for game 2 of the NLCS. GO GIANTS!

Goodnight lovelies!

Back to the future...

Now I know you've been on the edge of your seat all weekend waiting for the pictures from 80's movie night. So here you go:

First I went to pick up C and met her out of town company dressed like this:

Needless to say by the time I arrived at my cross town destination I had forgotten how I was dressed until I suddenly felt the need to explain my outfit.
Then C and I headed over to J's. But first we had to stop and get supplies.
Again I forgot how we were dressed and kept wondering why people were staring, or why that guy let me in front of him at the store.
I mean between my dress and C's bitchin' denim jacket, well it could have been a hot tub time machine.
Did I mention C was in rare form? I'm pretty sure she was hoping someone was crusin' for a bruisin'.

Finally we get to J's where C and I vicariously live through her single girl (though, newly dating) stories.

J-in the middle of single girl story

Eventually we started St. Elmo's Fire. We didn't really watch it, because we're girls and we were feeling chatty. Imagine!
Respectfully we waited to take pictures until the end of the evening. Here are the ones that could safely be published:
  These are my friends.
In all our attempts to get a picture of all three of us, these next two were probably the best we got. Unfortunately one of is moving because we didn't know when the timer would actually go off.

And that concludes the movie night portion of the evening.

C and I went to the bar, still in our 80's wear to meet up with her boyfriend and some friends.
By that time I was having a horrible allergy attack from J's cat and my eyeballs felt like they were about to pop out of my head. But I'm a trooper and stuck it out.

When the mister got home yesterday we discovered that he was waking up and getting ready to go the airport at the same time I was walking to my car to go home.

Time differences are crazy.
